Veganism just got better, and if you aren't convince well here's a treat for you. It looks and taste like the real thing. And Yes! its all fruit and all vegan.

My friends, jackfruit have made summer feasting--> vegan style, venturesome.

Whether a vegetarian or a non, it would be hard to ignore the temptation to devour this mean sandwich.

Its sweet, and stringy texture kicks that old pulled pork sandwich to the bone.

Its fairly simple and easy to whip up.

Canned jackfruit can be easily purchase at many asian grocery mart. Be sure to purchase young green jackfruit as it holds the fall-off texture that resembles pulled pork. We have previously made the mistake of first purchasing a regular mature jackfruit and made a complete mess. A big no-no. So saved yourself the time!

Also be sure to grab the young green jackfruit in water instead of brine or syrup as the sweetness of it can alter the taste tremendously. Too sweet isn't always tasty.

We began by rinsing and draining the young green jackfruit from the can. We sliced the triangular tip of the jackfruit and discarded. Then shredded the jackfruit into thin layers to achieve the pulled-texture and added seasoning to prep for cooking. In a small bowl, we whisk together brown sugar, BBQ sauce and liquid smoke sauce. Then heated oil in a hot skillet, to simmer chopped onions and the seasoned pulled pork for a few minutes. We then added the mixed BBQ sauce and cooked for another 10 min. Toast some buns and enjoy your delicious sandwich.

Top it all of with some avocado slaw!

No more waiting and let's save all that drooling for tasting and lets get you cooking!
